Piano Studio

I am a piano teacher in McKinney, Texas. My home studio is in Stonebridge Ranch and I teach students starting around age 5 years through adult. I host two studio recitals a year and encourage my students to take advantage of several performance opportunities to grow and gain experience. I am classically trained and lead my students through a course of music study involving the full array of musical genres. I am a member of the North Texas Music Teachers Association, encouraging student participation in adjudicated events and the state theory test. Music theory training is a big part of music training in my studio including the important training of listening/aural skills.

I began taking piano lessons at the age of five when my father bought a used piano. I participated in many recitals, festivals, examinations, and auditions throughout my elementary, middle, and high school years. I was awarded a scholarship to study piano from the music department at Lenoir-Rhyne College (now Lenoir-Rhyne University) in Hickory, North Carolina where I attended from 1992-1996 and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Music and Psychology. I was awarded the title of Miss Catawba Valley 1995 and received a non-finalist talent award in the Miss North Carolina Pageant that same year. In 1998, I achieved a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from East Carolina University. After a seven year career in counseling, psychotherapy, and cognitive rehabilitation, I resigned to stay home with my sons. Once my sons were old enough to start playing the piano in 2014, I opened my studio. I love each of my students dearly and love watching them grown and learn music on the piano!! :)
